OpenAI launches Brazilian Portuguese version of its educator course
OpenAI added Brazilian Portuguese to its free educator course and outlined classroom uses for ChatGPT’s Study Mode.
launched a Brazilian Portuguese version of AI for Educators on October 15, marking Teachers’ Day in Brazil. The course is available through the company’s free OpenAI Academy platform.
The material serves teachers working from elementary school through university. It covers lesson preparation, classroom activities, assessments and communications. OpenAI said educators should retain control over instructional decisions when using the tools.
The announcement also highlighted ChatGPT’s existing Study Mode, which uses prompts, hints and comprehension checks to guide learning. OpenAI developed the feature with input from educators and researchers. Its stated aim is to encourage students to participate actively and examine their reasoning.
OpenAI encouraged teachers to test Study Mode on familiar subjects before using it in class. One suggested activity asks students to investigate evaporation, then independently write an explanation and a discussion question. Teachers can review those responses to decide which concepts need further attention.
