Nvidia pledges $250 million in computing resources for UK AI safety research

Nvidia will provide British researchers with $50 million in computing access annually for five years to study AI safety and security.

Nvidia announced on October 14 that it will donate computing resources worth $250 million to support AI safety research in the United Kingdom. The five-year commitment focuses on testing and securing AI agents.

The company plans to provide $50 million in computing access each year. Most will serve the broader British research community, with some allocated to the BOLD and SOFAIR research labs and Imperial College London. Nvidia said their work includes adaptive AI systems, open-source architectures and robotics safety.

The initiative gives researchers access to computing capacity for developing and evaluating safeguards as AI capabilities expand. Nvidia said its UK cloud partners will deliver that access over the program's five-year term.
