Nscale and Anthropic reportedly discuss second $45 billion computing deal

Anthropic is reportedly negotiating another $45 billion agreement with Nscale for computing capacity at a second facility in West Virginia.

Anthropic

Nscale and Anthropic are reportedly discussing a new computing agreement worth roughly $45 billion. People familiar with the negotiations say it would cover a second facility at Nscale’s Monarch campus in West Virginia.

The proposed building would reportedly provide 460 megawatts of capacity equipped with Nvidia Vera Rubin chips. The discussions follow an earlier agreement, valued at about $45 billion, for Anthropic to rent capacity at the same campus.

Nscale announced its acquisition agreement for the Monarch project in March. The company said the development in Mason County would combine computing infrastructure with dedicated power generation, with an initial 2 gigawatts of power expected during the first half of 2028.

The additional Anthropic agreement remains unconfirmed, and people familiar with the discussions say its terms could change. Anthropic is also said to hold priority rights to negotiate for space in a planned third building.
