Musk pledges SpaceX stock for every US child in 2027
Elon Musk says he plans to give each US child a SpaceX share from his own holdings in 2027, but has not explained eligibility or distribution.
Elon Musk said on October 19 that he intends to distribute SpaceX stock to children across the United States in 2027. His pledge calls for each child to receive a single share from his personal holdings. He also suggested additional gifts would follow.
The announcement followed Anthropic's pledge to allocate 5% of its stock to a public benefit fund. Responding to that proposal, Musk advocated distributing ownership directly to individuals. SpaceX stock ended Friday's trading at $146.03, putting the potential gift above $10 billion if it covers roughly 73 million children.
The distribution remains a promise rather than an established program. Musk's announcement did not explain how recipients would receive their shares or set eligibility requirements. Those details remain unresolved ahead of his stated 2027 timeline.
