Nvidia expands UK AI partnerships with research support and Earthshot role

Nvidia outlined AI projects across British businesses and public services alongside new support for research and environmental innovation. The company said it is joining the Earthshot Prize as a founding partner in its Global Alliance, providing computing resources and technical expertise.

Its research commitment totals $250 million in computing access over five years, with $50 million allocated annually. Most will support the broader UK research community, while a portion will support Oxford-led BOLD, UCL-led SOFAIR and Imperial College London. The work will address the safety and security of AI agents, including robotics.

The wider update describes businesses putting Nvidia technology into daily operations. Fuse Energy is moving customer AI systems onto its own B300 Blackwell Ultra infrastructure, while Speechmatics is deploying its Oak medical transcription model through Nvidia Triton Inference. Nvidia said more than 3,100 UK companies participate in its Inception startup program.

The research computing will come through Nvidia cloud partners using infrastructure located in the UK. Nvidia said providers, system designs and commercial arrangements still need to be agreed upon. Planned research includes protected testing environments and benchmarks for assessing AI safeguards.
