OpenAI to bring its models and Codex to Google Cloud
OpenAI plans to offer its models and Codex through Google Cloud, with purchases eligible to count toward customers' existing spending commitments.
OpenAI announced an agreement with Google Cloud on October 21 to make its advanced AI models and Codex workflows accessible through Model Garden. Customers will buy access through Google's cloud marketplace. Eligible purchases can count toward spending commitments customers already have with Google Cloud.
The integration will combine OpenAI's technology with Google's controls for data access and governance. OpenAI said the arrangement is intended to support enterprise software development and tasks performed by AI agents. Microsoft will continue as OpenAI's main cloud partner.
An invitation-based preview allows selected customers to evaluate supported uses through the Responses API and access Codex through its app, command line and compatible development environments. That preview is restricted to approved development and internal testing rather than production work. OpenAI expects broader availability within weeks and says access through Google Antigravity and Gemini Agent will follow soon.,
