Nvidia details Kumo Forecast's historical retrieval and explanation tools

Nvidia's Kumo Forecast combines a pretrained forecasting model with optional historical pattern searches and tools that explain individual predictions.

NVIDIA

Nvidia outlined Kumo Forecast on October 21, describing a system that predicts future numerical values using both learned representations and relevant historical observations. The model can supplement its direct predictions by searching earlier data for similar patterns. It also includes tools for examining which inputs influenced a forecast.

Kumo Forecast uses the MOMENT-1-large architecture, whose base encoder contains roughly 340 million parameters. Its pretrained encoding layers remain fixed while a separate prediction component is trained. Developers can supply historical records separately and adjust their influence on the final output.,

The explanation tools distinguish the influence of past observations on predictions at different points in the future. That provides more detail than a single overall importance score, particularly for applications involving equipment monitoring or operational demand. Nvidia's documentation describes outputs that connect specific historical inputs with particular forecast steps.

The code and model weights are available under Apache 2.0 terms. Nvidia labels the model for research and development and says deployment requires testing with data specific to the intended application. Inputs must contain timestamps and numerical values, with compatible historical data needed when retrieval is enabled.,
