Gemini 4 Argon reaches Pro and Ultra subscribers with new app tools

Google is bringing Gemini 4 Argon to paid subscribers alongside background tasks, expanded app connections and coding tools on macOS.

Google DeepMind

Google began rolling out Gemini 4 Argon worldwide to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers on October 13. The Gemini app update also introduces task controls and adds coding capabilities to its Mac application.

A control in the main conversation window switches between chatting and assigning tasks. Google said Gemini can continue those tasks while users are away from their computers. The service connects with more than 40 apps, including Shopify, Adobe, OpenTable and Instacart.

Google is also incorporating its Antigravity coding interface into Gemini on macOS. The changes expand the app's role in completing work across connected services, including grocery orders, restaurant reservations and design projects. Google said Argon also gives more direct answers and provides better progress updates during lengthy assignments.

The company said paid subscribers can begin using the updates as the rollout proceeds. Its app announcement did not specify a date for completing that rollout or detail differences in task limits between Pro and Ultra.
