ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent have reportedly ordered more than 3 million Nvidia RTX PRO 5500 graphics cards. People familiar with the purchases put their combined sticker value above $35 billion, a figure that does not establish completed sales or guaranteed deliveries.

Nvidia describes the Blackwell-based RTX PRO 5500 as a professional workstation GPU with 84 GB of memory. Its supported applications include running language models, AI agents and simulation software.

The reported purchases reflect demand for computing hardware that Chinese buyers can obtain under US export restrictions. People familiar with the matter say Nvidia has warned customers that demand exceeds planned production, leaving the company unable to guarantee full delivery.

Initial samples are reportedly expected in December, followed by commercial shipments during the opening quarter of 2027. Those dates remain unconfirmed, and the amount each buyer will actually receive is unresolved.
