Anthropic opens Singapore office and signs government AI agreement
Anthropic opened its fifth Asia-Pacific office and signed a Singapore government agreement covering AI safety, research and adoption.
Anthropic opened an office in Singapore on October 14 and signed a cooperation agreement with the country's Ministry of Digital Development and Information. The location is its fifth office in Asia-Pacific.
Anthropic co-founder Ben Mann and ministry permanent secretary Kai Fong Chng signed the memorandum during Singapore International Cyber Week. It covers model testing, security, research into AI's effects and responsible deployment in government and businesses.
The expansion builds on cooperation that began in 2023 through Singapore's generative AI testing sandbox. Anthropic said over 1,500 technical employees at GovTech Singapore have adopted Claude Code, while DBS uses Claude for software development and other workplace tasks.
Anthropic plans technical exchanges with Singapore institutions on testing methods and responses to AI incidents. It also intends to share research, support AI skills and help smaller businesses adopt the technology. The Singapore office is recruiting staff.
