Anthropic draft IPO filing reportedly shows $80.7 billion first-half loss

Anthropic reportedly recorded an $80.7 billion first-half loss, largely driven by a noncash charge tied to convertible financing.

Anthropic reportedly recorded a net loss of $80.7 billion during the first six months of 2026, compared with $13 billion a year earlier. The figures are said to appear in a draft IPO prospectus and remain unconfirmed publicly by the company.

About $72 billion of the reported loss came from an accounting charge involving bonds that can convert into company shares. The charge reflected an increase in their estimated value, rather than an equivalent amount of cash spent operating the business.

The draft reportedly puts first-half revenue at $16.3 billion and computing and infrastructure spending near $9 billion. It also describes roughly $450 billion in cloud agreements covering seven to 10 years. Those longer-term commitments are separate from spending already incurred during the reporting period.

Anthropic confirmed on June 1 that it had submitted confidential IPO paperwork to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Its announcement said the offering would depend on market conditions and other factors after regulatory review. At that point, neither the share count nor the offering price had been established.
