Poland’s NASK gains access to OpenAI tools for cybersecurity

NASK has gained access to OpenAI’s specialized cybersecurity model to help Polish experts find software flaws, analyze malware and develop fixes.

Poland’s research institute NASK is working with OpenAI to strengthen cyber defenses through access to its GPT-5.5 Cyber model. NASK announced the access on July 2, 2026, for work involving its CERT Polska incident response team.

The institute said the model can help specialists examine software for vulnerabilities, generate fixes and investigate malicious code. Access comes through OpenAI’s Government Trusted Access for Cyber program, which restricts the technology to approved government partners.

NASK said identifying serious security weaknesses requires specialized expertise and lengthy analysis of complex systems. Director Radosław Nielek emphasized that human specialists must still check the model’s findings. The intended role is to support their work and accelerate investigations.

CERT Polska plans to continue sharing lessons from its use of language models, team leader Marcin Dudek said. Its stated priority is to identify and repair vulnerabilities before attackers exploit them.
