Benioff and Musk adopt Trump's push to call AI super intelligence
Marc Benioff announced a Salesforce product rename, while Elon Musk pledged a similar change after Trump's order on federal AI terminology.
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and Elon Musk have embraced President Donald Trump's preferred terminology for artificial intelligence. Benioff announced that Salesforce's AIForce product would become SIForce, while Musk pledged to change SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI.
Benioff announced the change on October 9 in a social media post. It concerns the Salesforce product rather than the company's corporate name. Musk's announcement described an intended rename, without establishing that the change had been completed.
Trump signed an executive order on September 29 directing federal agencies to adopt super intelligence and the abbreviation SI in their communications. The order governs executive-branch terminology and does not require private businesses to rename themselves or their products. The White House argues that the new wording better describes the technology's potential.
The order also directs the president's science and technology adviser to propose a federal definition for the terminology. That leaves a further policy step beyond the immediate wording change.
