Basecamp launches MCP connections for ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and Grok

Basecamp's new connector lets AI assistants read project information and make authorized changes, with access included in every Basecamp account.

OpenAI

Basecamp has released a hosted MCP server that connects its project management software to AI assistants. Supported applications include ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and Grok. The company says the connection supports both retrieving information and making changes.

Assistants can summarize discussions, identify overdue work, create tasks and update project cards. Users sign in to Basecamp and choose either read-only permissions or permission to make changes. An assistant inherits the user's access limits, including restrictions on projects and files.

The integration brings existing project records into an assistant's workflow, allowing questions and actions to draw on information stored in Basecamp. Basecamp says it does not train AI models using customer content, while each connected assistant has its own data policies.

The connector is available with every Basecamp account at no additional Basecamp charge. Some assistants require a paid subscription to connect external services. Users can disconnect an assistant while retaining the history of its activity in Basecamp.
