Perplexity adds Gemini 4 Argon and claims a WANDR benchmark record
Perplexity says Gemini 4 Argon has set a research benchmark record, though its launch statements differ on which users have access.
Perplexity announced the addition of Gemini 4 Argon on October 16. The company said the model achieved a record result on WANDR, short for Wide-And-Deep-Research.
Aravind Srinivas said Argon was available across fast search and Computer, Perplexity's agent mode. He described access as extending to every user, while the company announcement specifically named subscribers to its Pro and Max plans. Those statements leave access for free accounts unclear.
Google released Argon on October 13, describing it as a model designed for demanding tasks involving multiple steps. Its launch included developer access and availability in several Google products, placing the Perplexity integration days after the model's debut.
