Google brings Universal Cart to shopping across Search and Gemini
Google’s Universal Cart lets US shoppers collect products from different retailers and complete purchases through Google or merchant websites.
Google’s Universal Cart is available in the United States, bringing products found through Search, Shopping, AI Mode and Gemini into a shared shopping space. Google’s current documentation confirms those supported services, but does not establish October 15 as the launch date.
The cart groups products by retailer. Participating merchants support checkout through Google Pay, while other purchases finish on the retailer’s website. Order updates can appear inside the cart when merchants provide the necessary information.
Google introduced the product on May 19 at its I/O conference. It described Gemini-powered features for monitoring discounts, checking price histories and identifying incompatible purchases, such as computer components that cannot work together. The company also said the retailer remains responsible for the sale.
Google previously announced plans to extend the cart to YouTube and Gmail. Those services are absent from the supported shopping surfaces listed in its current help documentation, which does not provide an expansion date.
