OpenClaw 2026.10.2 fixes upgrade failures and missing or repeated replies
OpenClaw's latest patch addresses update errors, reply delivery, long conversations and credential masking, with work from 107 contributors.
OpenClaw released version 2026.10.2 with fixes for installation, messaging and conversation reliability. The project credits 107 contributors and lists 80 pull requests alongside 12 direct commits.
The patch addresses cleanup failures during upgrades from version 2026.10.1 and problems affecting Windows update checks. It also fixes dashboard replies blocked after chat resets and duplicate final answers from certain background operations. Repairs to the Doctor maintenance tool address stale locks and leftover session files.
Other changes help preserve conversation context and keep extended exchanges within model limits. Credential masking now catches recognized secrets split across lengthy tool output, while related fixes address freezes during masking. These changes target failures that could interrupt work or expose sensitive values in affected output.
Some installations still require specific recovery steps. Affected version 2026.9.7 deployments with container file-copying problems need a manual npm installation of a corrected release before subsequent updates can use the repair. The project also notes that an older updater may display a cleanup error even when installation succeeds.
