Ollama extends DeepSeek V4.1 Flash update to existing model users

Ollama said on October 17 that users selecting deepseek-v4.1-flash would also receive the updated model. The announcement followed the addition of DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 to its cloud service.

DeepSeek describes the release as an incremental update with better results on reasoning, programming, agent tasks and visual evaluations. The company also says it completes tasks more quickly and produces shorter responses than its predecessor. Those performance claims come from DeepSeek's own evaluation.

Ollama's catalog lists both the general cloud version and a version explicitly labeled 1017-cloud. The rollout extends the update to the existing model selection, while the dated option provides a separate way to request the October release. Ollama's announcement did not specify when the transition for all existing users would finish.,
