Nvidia expands training and computing access for European science

Nvidia is joining a European Commission initiative with free teaching materials, scientific software and partnerships that widen access to computing resources.

Nvidia announced on October 15 that it is joining the European Commission’s AI in Science Enablers initiative. Launched in Dublin, the effort connects private-sector resources with European researchers and is linked to the EU’s RAISE science program.

Nvidia’s Deep Learning Institute has opened a hub of teaching materials on deep learning and accelerated computing. The materials are free to download and adapt, without registration or deadlines. Nvidia is also working with cloud providers and national AI factories in France, Spain and Sweden to expand computing access for startups and smaller businesses.

The effort addresses barriers Nvidia identified for smaller laboratories and scientists beginning their careers: obtaining software, securing computing capacity and developing technical skills. It builds on the company’s existing collection of openly available models, datasets and scientific software.

Spain’s BSC AI Factory is moving from a pilot to its first full accelerator program. Nvidia said other European AI factories have expressed interest in adopting that approach in 2027.
