Lovable highlights Perplexity integration for apps that search the web
Lovable is promoting Perplexity-powered app features, with managed web search and broader research capabilities available through a separate API key.
Lovable highlighted Perplexity in an October 15 announcement about AI features for apps built on its platform. The integration lets developers add searches for current information and show supporting sources within their applications.
The connection has two options with different capabilities. Lovable manages credentials and charges workspace credits for basic web searches, while developers need their own Perplexity API key for Sonar answers, deep research and specialized searches of academic material or securities filings.
Lovable described potential applications including local event guides and automated news briefings. Its documentation says the same connection can support both the development chat and published apps, bringing current external information into those workflows.
Developers can request Perplexity by name when describing an app feature in Lovable. Those choosing their own credentials pay Perplexity directly for API usage, which is billed separately from a Perplexity Pro subscription.
