Qwen releases Image 2.1 Turbo with eight-step generation and editing
Qwen released downloadable weights for Image 2.1 Turbo, which generates and edits images in eight steps under a license that restricts commercial use.
Alibaba's Qwen team released Qwen-Image-2.1-Turbo on October 9. The accelerated version of Qwen-Image-2.1 creates and edits images using eight denoising steps, and its model weights are available to download.
Turbo retains the underlying model's visual generation architecture with 7 billion parameters. It supports written prompts and image editing, with resolution options including square images measuring 2,048 pixels on each side.
The release includes a recommended sampling configuration that loads automatically through the supported Diffusers pipeline. It also reuses information from prompts and reference images between steps, reducing repeated computation during generation.
The downloadable model comes with the Qwen Research License, which permits research and evaluation uses. Commercial deployment requires a separate license from Qwen, so the release does not grant unrestricted business use of the weights.
