Google Play adds private installation for AI Studio Android apps

Google is adding a way to launch personal Android apps made with AI Studio through Google Play. The rollout began October 13 in selected markets, including the United States, for people 18 and older.

Creators need only their regular Google account to use the feature. Their apps remain private and outside the store's public catalog, so building something for personal use does not require a professional developer account.

Google introduced native Android app creation in AI Studio earlier this year. The new distribution option extends that workflow by giving personal projects a route onto a device through Google Play.

Google said it plans to enable sharing with a small group of friends and relatives in the coming months. Creators seeking public distribution will need to move to a professional developer account and meet Google's standard app safety and quality requirements.
