Microsoft introduced a model that scores predefined options for tasks such as routing requests, checking responses and prioritizing work.

Microsoft introduced Microsoft-Decision-1 on October 9 for software that needs to choose between predefined options. The company said the model is available through Microsoft Foundry and OpenRouter.

Built using Qwen3.5-9B, the model assigns probabilities to possible answers. Microsoft said it achieved the highest accuracy in a comparison covering 36 benchmarks and nearly 150,000 questions. Those performance claims come from the company's own testing.

The model targets recurring decisions inside applications, including assigning requests to teams and evaluating proposed responses. Its confidence scores can help software determine whether to proceed automatically or seek further review. Microsoft describes the Foundry release as a public preview.

Microsoft lists pricing at $0.042 per million input tokens, with no output-token charge. The company plans further updates and intends to build future versions using models from Microsoft AI and OpenAI.
