xAI launches Grok Voice 3.0 at 8 cents per minute

xAI released Grok Voice 3.0 on October 14, adding a new speech-to-speech model to its Voice Agent API. The company said responses arrive in less than a second, while the listed price remains $0.08 per minute.

The company cited an 86.9 score on an independent speech evaluation index, compared with 81.3 for its previous model. It also highlighted a 97% result on a test covering conversational behavior, including interruptions and turn-taking. These are benchmark results cited by xAI, rather than guarantees for individual deployments.

Customer support is a central use case. xAI said Starlink uses Grok Voice for 20,000 calls daily and resolves about 70% without human involvement. Its agents can handle identity checks, hardware problems, account credits and replacement equipment.

Developers using the grok-voice-latest alias have already been moved to version 3.0 automatically. Release notes say the API remains unchanged and identify Grok Voice 2.0 as deprecated.
