Tesla reportedly prepares wider Cybercab rollout as Austin service grows
Tesla reportedly plans a larger Cybercab rollout, while its latest disclosures confirm production capacity and an initial deployment in Austin.
Tesla is reportedly preparing a broader Cybercab rollout, though the scale and timing remain unverified. The company confirmed in its third-quarter update that Cybercabs have joined its Austin Robotaxi service. That establishes an initial deployment, but does not confirm the extent of the reported expansion.
Tesla lists its Texas Cybercab manufacturing capacity at more than 125,000 vehicles annually. It cautions that factory capacity does not equal actual output. The company also said it is increasing production of its 4680 battery cells to support Cybercab and other vehicles.
The immediate operational goal is to shorten waits for rides in Austin. Tesla said it expects to do that by adding vehicles and improving the software that coordinates its fleet. Its disclosures do not establish a timetable for deploying Cybercabs at the scale suggested by its manufacturing capacity.
