Waymo secures its first debt financing with $5 billion loan

Waymo closed a $5 billion loan to support expansion of its autonomous ride service in the US and abroad.

Waymo

Waymo completed a $5 billion term loan on October 8, marking its first borrowing through debt financing. The company said the money will support the expansion of its driverless ride service.

Blackstone, Sixth Street and PIMCO led the lending group. Other participants included T. Rowe Price, Capital Group and Loomis Sayles. Goldman Sachs was the transaction's sole lead bookrunner.

The borrowing follows a $16 billion equity financing completed earlier in 2026. Waymo said it began operating in its 15th US city in September and announced additional international destinations that month.

Waymo plans to use the financing to expand domestically and internationally while giving the business more financial flexibility. Its announcement did not disclose an interest rate or repayment schedule.
