Meta releases Muse Spark Open with support for Apple Mac Studios
Meta’s downloadable AI model can run across two M5 Ultra Mac Studios, bringing its coding and automated task capabilities to local hardware.
Meta released Muse Spark Open on October 15, with optimizations that allow the AI model to run on Apple desktop computers. The company said the model supports coding and tasks that require multiple steps, with a local setup using two M5 Ultra Mac Studios.
The model contains 816 billion parameters, with about 42 billion active for each token it processes. It accepts text, images, audio and video, and can handle roughly one million tokens of context. Meta’s documented Apple configuration uses two machines with 512 GB of memory each, or four with 256 GB each.
Releasing the model’s weights lets developers download and operate it within their own infrastructure. Meta said it tested local workflows involving changes to an iOS application and video editing in DaVinci Resolve. Use is governed by the Muse Model License, which includes commercial restrictions.
The model is available now for download and through several hosted services. Developers running it on Macs can use Apple’s MLX software, while other supported configurations cover hardware from Nvidia, AMD and Intel.
