OpenClaw v2026.9.8 fixes agent replies, memory use and Windows startup
OpenClaw v2026.9.8 addresses missing agent responses and update failures, while its release notes describe GPT-6.1 Sol support as incomplete.
OpenClaw has released version 2026.9.8 with fixes for missing agent responses, excess memory consumption and installation problems. The release includes 43 pull requests and contributions from eight people.
Delegated work now returns its result to the requesting agent once, and internal tasks must produce an answer or continue working. The update also addresses a connection problem that prevented replies after a reload or computer wake. For installations running multiple Codex agents, it reduces duplicated memory and delays some background activity until needed.
Windows changes address installation files temporarily being locked and startup failures involving long cache paths. Update recovery also retains existing plugin selections. Although the launch message highlighted GPT-6.1 Sol, the detailed notes describe the changes as preparation and say support remained incomplete in this version.
Custom workflows must explicitly process returned results and request follow-up messages under the revised reply behavior. The developers also caution that an older Windows updater cannot acquire the new recovery fix during an upgrade already underway, so an initial failure may still require the documented recovery procedure.
