Epic releases AI-assisted launcher preview with Linux support
Epic says its redesigned games launcher uses AI-assisted development and offers faster performance, with a preview available for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Epic Games released a preview of its redesigned launcher on October 14, calling the software "vibe coded." The company says the update improves responsiveness and introduces Linux support alongside versions for Windows and macOS.
Epic says the launcher starts more quickly, moves between screens faster and consumes fewer resources in the background. The redesigned library includes individual game pages, customizable views and a central display for download activity. Players can also connect PC game libraries to view their collections together.
The release brings Epic’s use of AI-assisted development into software players use to buy, organize and launch games. Epic describes this initial version as limited in features, and it remains a preview available for testing. The company says existing purchases, saves and account progress carry over to the preview and eventual full release.
